Vientiane – Vangvieng

Day 1:  Arrive  Vientiane
Arrive at Wattay airport or Mittaphab Bridge. City tour of Vientiane to include: Wat Sisaket,the oldest standing temple in Vientiane housing many important documents and treasures, including 6,840 Buddha images. Across the road we visit Ho Prakeo, home of the Emerald Buddha (Prakeo) and a museum with the most extensive collection of Buddhist artifacts in the country, Next is the opportunity to photograph and/or climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city at Patuxay (Victory Gate), the monument was modeled after the Arc de Triumph in Paris yet retains its Laotian identity with traditional decorative motifs. Visit That Luang (The Great Sacred Stupa) said to contain relics of the Lord Buddha and is the country’s most cherished religious monument, the largest Buddhist festival of the year is held here on the 12th month of the Buddhist calendar. Dinner and show at local restaurant in town. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane - Vangvieng
Drive to Vangvieng through Thangon, visiting Ban Keun, a local salt extraction village. Short boat cruise on the artificial lake at Namngum Dam. Continue the drive to Vanvieng with stops for photos at Nam Leek, Huaymo. Arrive Vangvieng and some free time for panoramic photos at Nam Song. Overnight in Vangvieng.

Day 3: Vangvieng- Vientiane
Walk to visit Tam Jang cave with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Drive back to Vientiane, stopping at Vangsang archeology site which is over a thousand years old. Arrive Vientiane, with some free time. Overnight in Vientiane

Day 4: Vientiane-Departure
Visit Talatsao morning market to shop for famous Lao silk, cotton, wood carvings, etc …OR drive to visit Ban Nongbuathong weaving village
Drive 30km south of Vientiane to visit Xiengkheuan Buddha Park, a blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures made by a mystical monk and displayed on the by the bank of the Mekong River, on the way we can also see the Mittaphab (Friendship) bridge over the Mekong river to Thailand.
Transfer to Wattay airport or Mittaphab (Friendship) Bridge for departure to your next destination
